Understanding Direct Cremation: What is it?

To help you understand it a bit more clearly, a Direct Cremation is a type of funeral ceremony which gives us a more personalised alternative to the traditional funerals that we tend to think of. That means that if your loved one wouldn't have wanted pallbearers and a floral tribute, you won't have to worry about giving them something inappropriate -- there is also plenty of opportunity to reflect who they were in the ceremony, once these more traditional elements have been removed. Typically, this ceremony is fully unattended, but of course, we understand that it is important for some people to gather, so this can easily be arranged if you think it would be best. We can take care of the planning in Aberdeen for you, from bringing your loved one to the crematorium, to returning their ashes to you at home by hand.

What does a Direct Cremation cost in Aberdeen?

It goes without saying that the sudden and unexpected financial burden of planning a funeral can make a difficult time even harder to deal with, and many people struggle with this aspect of things. If you are worried about how to pay the costs of a ceremony, we'd be glad to hear from you on the phone, so that we can discuss your options and give you a quote. It might help you to know that this type of ceremony is normally significantly cheaper than other kinds, and that the average cost of a British funeral could be more than twice the price of an Aura funeral. We could arrange this type of ceremony in Aberdeen for you from £1,195.

Is it possible to customise Direct Cremations in Aberdeen?

In place of things like hearses and pallbearers, we can make plenty of room of for your input, giving you the space you need to let your loved one's personality shine. If you know you would like to do this, but aren't sure how, we would be very pleased to help you over the phone. Some people, for instance, like to make sure they have the opportunity of a final viewing of their loved one at a chapel of rest, where others choose a favourite song of their loved one to accompany them into the crematorium before the ceremony begins.

How long does it take to sort out a Direct Cremation in Aberdeen?

We would love to be able to give you a specific time scale right at the outset, to set your mind at ease. However, it's important to remember that each funeral is different, and that the delivery time is likely to vary. Once we have had a chance to talk things through with you, we will be able to give you some more specific information about this. In the meantime, as a rough guide, it's possible that we could arrange one of our more bespoke funerals in Aberdeen within two weeks, but other kinds of funeral will take longer to organise.

Who will support me through the Direct Cremation process?

We'd like to reassure you straight away by saying that we have a dedicated team who are ready to listen to you and help you however you need, whether you are in Aberdeen or anywhere else. Our Angels, as we call them, are trained to handle all of the responsibility of planning things to your specifications, giving you the peace of mind that everything is taken care of. Please don't worry -- you will not be left to deal with these things alone. By putting your trust in Aura, we want to release you from admin needs, allowing you to focus on what matters.

Where will the cremation take place?

We provide a nationwide direct cremation service, working with a trusted network of crematoria and care centres across England, Scotland and Wales. While we do serve families in Aberdeen and the surrounding area, the cremation may not take place locally as part of our standard £1,195 package.

To keep our service simple and affordable, we arrange the cremation based on availability within our wider network. This helps avoid delays and allows us to offer the best possible value.

If it's important for you to choose a specific crematorium, we do offer that option for an additional cost. While we always aim to keep things as close to home as possible, your loved one may be cared for at one of our partner facilities a little further away.

No matter where the cremation takes place, your loved one will be treated with the utmost care, dignity and respect. If you'd like to discuss location options in more detail, our team is here to help.
